We are a group of passionate Polish developers who love to create games! We want our projects to provide entertainment for both the players and ourselves. In our games, we focus primarily on originality and unique mechanics.
History #
Some of us have been making games together since high school, but the history of DVD Unicorns began in earnest in 2020 when, faced with a pandemic and forced isolation, we decided to create a game that would help us and our players forget about the reality around us for a while. This is how the idea for Evergreen-an arcade-adventure game based on the principles of slow gaming-was born. Working on this project, although entirely remote, allowed us to get to know each other better as a team and shape DVD Unicorns as we know it today. The world we created at Evergreen was a great springboard for us and a form of contact with nature (albeit only the digital kind) during the pandemic. Our work was recognized at the 13th edition of the ZTGK Challenge, where we won first place in the Game Design category. This win gave us even more motivation to act.
In 2021, as part of a project organized by the Faculty of Technical Physics, Informatics and Applied Mathematics (FTIMS) of the Lodz University of Technology, we started working on a cooperative puzzle game called Bytebond. We wanted to create a game that would not only be a puzzle game for players, but also a way to spend time together with loved ones. We are currently still developing this project. Working on Bytebond is, above all, great fun for us. Coming up with new puzzles and testing levels together gives us a lot of joy. At the same time, this is our biggest project so far, which is slowly starting to become more than just another student project.
In November 2023, our team officially started a company DVD Unicorns sp. z o.o. in order to finish the Bytebond project and release it as a commercial product. Since then, we’ve released a public demo on Steam and are currently working towards realising our dream of finishing a fun and high-quality game for the world to enjoy.
