DVD Unicorns

Description

Bytebond is a cooperative puzzle game for two people. In it, we travel through the interior of the computer and solve puzzles based on energy management. The basis of the gameplay is the asymmetry between the characters. One of them takes energy from the environment while the other gives it back. The more energy characters have, the larger they become, which can prevent them from passing through some of the narrow corridors. Fortunately, the characters can freely exchange energy with each other. During the gameplay, players must properly manage the energy found in each level to activate objects and open passages. In this game, the most important thing is cooperation! None of the puzzles can be solved alone, and even the combat requires the involvement of both players.

History

The idea for the game began to emerge in 2020, as part of the "Power" project carried out at the Lodz University of Technology in the Faculty of FTIMS. The idea went through several prototypes, and when it took a satisfactory form from the gameplay side, we began to develop the artistic side as well. The game has since achieved several successes at competitions, including a win in the Game Design category at the ZTGK Challenge and a win in the Best Gameplay category at the Game Access Conference.
